An air fryer is a countertop appliance that cooks food with hot, rapidly circulating air. Inside, a heating element warms the air and a fan moves it quickly around the food, hitting it from all sides at once. That flow of hot air crisps and browns the surface. You get the crisp texture and golden color of fried food using just a light spray of oil. The name’s a little misleading since nothing is actually being fried. The hot air is doing the job the oil usually does.

What do I like about this air fryer?
- Crispy food without lots of oil
- Can use it to cook an entire meal - especially with the dual basket option that I recommend
- The baskets are dishwasher safe so you can pull the entire basket out after making a meal and put it in the dishwasher which makes cleanup great
- Doesn’t heat up the house as much as the oven would
- The viewing glass on the front of the basket is actually really nice to see how done your food is without needing to peek in the top
What have I been cooking in the air fryer?
Garden-fresh Summer Squash & Zucchini
- Preheat to 400°F
- Take your zucchini and cut it in circles that are 1/4 inch thick
- Drizzle olive oil over the zucchini and get them coated evenly.
- Toss some salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cornmeal in.
- Air fry without too much overlap for 20-25 minutes at 400°F
Frozen French Fries
This is a really nice option when you want some nice crispy fries to go with a meal. This typically takes less than 10 minutes
One thing to watch out for
One thing that I have found is that the air fryer isn’t a great option if you have a very light food that you are trying to cook. I tried making leek straws and they ended up flying around the basket. It wasn’t a huge deal, but I didn’t realize there was a fan blowing things around in there so it was surprising to me.
